Organizations team up to feed those in need

ELKHART, Ind. -- Two local organizations that help feed those in need are pairing up to better serve those in need.

The Food Bank of Northern Indiana announced a new distribution partnership with Church Community Services in Elkhart.

The CCS has the largest food pantry in Elkhart County. The organization serves an average of 2,200 families each month.

The new partnership with the food bank will provide a valuable resource for this living in the county.

"They don't have to run their trucks over here, which saves them," said Rod Roberson, executive director for Church Community Services. "We run our trucks to pick it up and bring it here. We both serve the people who need it the most, which are the people who are in hunger in Elkhart County."

There are more than 26,000 people living in poverty in Elkhart County.
