Are you seeing more deer in Michiana right now? An expert explains
SOUTH BEND,IND -- The annual Orionid meteor shower peaks this weekend. Best viewing in Michiana will be Friday night into early Saturday when skies are forecast to be most clear. A new to slightly waxing moon will keep extra light out of the sky and also make for better viewing.
Find a dark location away from the city lights and look towards the southeast. Find the constellation Orion, most notable for the three distinct stars that make up the belt of the mythical hunter. The meteors will appear to radiate from that section in the night sky.
Best viewing is around midnight and into the early morning hours of Saturday. Meteor rates will be 15 to 20 per hour. You can read more about the Orionids here.
