Pacer's wife holds prom dress drive
INDIANAPOLIS -- The wife of an Indiana Pacers player is helping make prom dreams come true for hundreds of girls.
Monday in Indianapolis, David West's wife Lesley hosted a prom dress drive and giveaway.
With the help of the Pacers Foundation, West hosted the event at the Pacers' stadium.
West and the wife of head coach Frank Vogel pitched in and bought several to add to the pile.
"When I went out to some of the schools, I could not image being able to go because of the cost of a dress. Some of these girls feel they've been blessed to come and receive the benefits of this event today," said Lesley West.
A recent survey by Visa found parents in the Midwest spend an average of more than $700 on their kids going to prom.
