Part of Red Arrow Highway to close starting Monday

BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. - The Berrien County Road Department will close Red Arrow Highway to thru traffic from the US-12 intersection to Community Hall Road starting on Monday, March 18.

Officials say local traffic will be permitted but will have to abide by hard closure points where two culverts are being replaced.

Culvert one will be worked on first and is located south of Skip’s Restaurant (16710 Lakeshore Road).

Red Arrow Highway will have a hard closure in place between Lakeshore Drive and Lakeshore Drive.

Thru traffic should seek alternative routes or utilize the signed detour route.

Culvert one's anticipated to take approximately two to three weeks, weather permitting.

Culvert two is located just south of the Community Hall Road intersection.

Red Arrow Highway will have a hard closure in place between Community Hall Road and Kruger Road.

Thru traffic should seek alternative routes or utilize the signed detour route when work begins.

Community Hall Road and that intersection will remain open to traffic.

Start date for this closure is unknown currently. It is anticipated to take about one week to complete, once started, weather permitting.

Improvements include drainage improvements, roadway resurfacing, and four-lane to three-lane reconfiguration and implementation.

Detour for northbound traffic along US-12/Red Arrow Highway is to remain on US-12 to EB I-94 to Exit 6 (Union Pier Road) to Union Pier Road.
