Part of tree falls on several people at soccer game in Elkhart

The Elkhart Police Department and Elkhart Fire Department were dispatched to Studebaker Park on Sunday due to a weather related incident. Five people were injured by a tree.

The call came in at 4:21 p.m. for the soccer field on McDonald Street.

Several people were watching a soccer game when they were hit by part of a tree.

The tree broke off due to a strong wind gust.

Five people were taken Elkhart General Hospital for treatment.

Officials report that one person was later transported to Riley Hospital for Children due to injury.
