Passenger airlifted to hospital after Toll Road crash

LAPORTE COUNTY, Ind. – Officers with the Indiana State Police responded to a crash on the Indiana Toll Road early Saturday morning. The female passenger was airlifted to the hospital after being ejected from the vehicle and sustaining serious injuries.

The vehicle was a 2006 Chevrolet Equinox that was west bound on I-90.

The vehicle had reportedly been traveling at a high rate of speed when it left the passing lane, drove off the right side of the roadway and overturned, coming to a rest on its side at the 59 mile marker, according to authorities.

The driver refused medical treatment at the scene.
