BERRIEN COUNY, Mich.—A pedestrian was killed on I-94 after being hit by a car on Monday.
Officials were dispatched to eastbound I-94 at mile marker 34 in Benton Township at approximately 6:15 p.m. on Monday for reports of a car hitting a person on the freeway.
When officials arrived, the 38-year-old female driver of Delton, Michigan told authorities she believed she hit a man crossing I-94.
The 33-year-old male pedestrian of Coloma, Michigan was located and pronounced deceased at the scene.
Initial investigation findings show the male was crossing I-94 and was struck by a vehicle in the eastbound lane.
Drugs and/ or alcohol are not believed to be a contributing factor for the driver.
The investigation into why the victim was on the freeway and his condition at the time of the crash is ongoing.
