Pedestrian killed on US 421

LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. -- A pedestrian who was standing in the roadway on US 421 was hit and killed Thursday  night, according to the La Porte County Sheriff's Office.

Thursday around 6:45 p.m., a Chevy Silverado was traveling northbound on US 421 north of CR 375 south when it struck a pedestrian standing in the roadway.

The pedestrian, 39-year-old Roger Davenport-Logging was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver was not injured.

The following people and agencies assisted at the scene: Detective Sergeant Scott Boswell, Sergeant Scott Lanoue, Detectives Aaron Banic and Jake Koch, Deputies Ryan Elcock, Tyler Oberholtzer and David Grimberg, Westville Police Department, Westville Volunteer Fire Department, La Porte County EMS, La Porte County Coroner’s Office and John’s Garage.

The crash remains under investigation.
