Pedestrian struck and killed by train in LaPaz

The Marshall County Sheriff's Department responded to the railroad tracks in the area of Wood Street in LaPaz after a resident reported a man was struck by a train Sunday morning.

Around 11:15 a.m., LaPaz residents called deputies after a man was struck by a train on the tracks south of their residence on Wood Street.

When deputies arrived, they located the body of 41-year-old Jeremy Hostetler of LaPaz.

Hostetler was walking on the railroad tracks when he was struck by a CSX locomotive traveling westbound at a high rate of speed, according to the sheriff's department.
