ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- A 31-year-old pedestrian was injured when he was struck by a side view mirror from a vehicle that fled the scene, according to the Elkhart County Sheriff's Office.

David Feathers was walking on SR 120 west of CR 19 just before 6 a.m. Wednesday when he was struck by the passenger side mirror of a vehicle traveling westbound, reports said.

The driver left the scene of the collision, reports said.

Feathers was transported to the hospital with a broken leg.

Evidence collected from the scene suggests that the vehicle in question is a 2004 to 2007 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, unknown color, with damage to the front passenger side, deputies said.
