Penn Spell Bowl team completes unbeaten invitational season

OXFORD, Ind. -- Penn High School's Spell Bowl squad made the 130 mile trip to Benton Central High School (Oxford, Ind), on Wednesday night, October 10, but it was well worthwhile as the Kingsmen completed an unbeaten six meet invitational season with a win over a four-team field.

For Penn it was the final tuneup before regional action which takes place across Indiana on Monday, October 15.

Here are the final results of the Benton Central Invitational:

1. Penn 89
2. Kouts 48
3. Benton Central 28
4. McCutheon 28

Benton Central won third on a tiebreaker.

The Kingsmen junior varsity turned in an 87 score.

Perfect spellers for the Penn varsity were:  Leah Hershberger, Nitin Arora, Disha Waghray, Kanika Arora, Austin Heckaman,  Marija Kapkus, Nisha Bhatt, Richard Jung and Jenny Huang.

Turning in perfect nights for the Kingsmen junior varsity were:  Presto George, Faihaan Arif, Alec Jacobs, Alex Cao, Josh Rajkumar, Alice Kwak and Max Kirsch.
