Pennsylvania man surrenders to police after hostage standoff

PITTSBURGH -- An armed man who took a hostage inside a downtown Pittsburgh office building has surrendered to police.

Police say the suspect was on the 16-floor when he gave himself up.

They believe that the suspect was inside the building early Friday morning with a weapon and some sort of explosives.

As the ordeal was unfolding, officers said they were able to talk with the man they believe was suicidal.

The building where the stand-off took place is home to a firm that administrates group benefit plans.
