LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. -- A Peoria, Illinois man was arrested by detectives from La Porte County and agents with the ATF Wednesday morning, according to the La Porte County Sheriff’s Office.

Around 11:30 a.m., members of the La Porte County Fugitive Apprehension Street Team and ATF arrived to the 500 block of Van Spanje Avenue to locate 28-year-old Alsiah Spikes.

Spikes was wanted on an outstanding federal warrant for felon in possession of a firearm and two state warrants, for probation violation and aggravated battery.

While serving the search warrant to arrest Spikes, officers saw Spikes escaping through a window after they entered the residence, deputies said.

He was taken into custody after a brief chase, reports said.

An additional search warrant was obtained for the home.

Spikes is facing preliminary charges of serious violent felon in possession of a firearm and resisting law enforcement in La Porte County.
