Person killed after vehicle hits tree, catches fire

JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- Michigan State Police have confirmed that 1 person is dead after their car caught fire following a collision with a tree.
It happened around 2:15 a.m. Friday morning near the intersection of Pine Lake Street and Conrad Road in Jefferson Township, Michigan.
Crews say they aren't sure how long the fire burned for before a passerby alerted them of the accident.
Because of the intensity of the fire, officers are having issues with identifying the body of the driver.
