Peru man dies in crash on US 31

PERU, Ind. -- A pickup truck driver was killed when it was struck by a semi that allegedly drove through a red light on US31 in Peru, according to Indiana State Police.

The crash happened just before 5 a.m. Friday at US 31 and Business 31.

Gregory Monin, 49, was turning from Business 31 onto US 31 when his truck was struck by a semi on US31 that failed to stop at the red light.

Police said Monin had the right of way.

Monin was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

The driver of the semi was not injured.

The semi's driver was cited for disregarding a traffic control device.

This crash is still under investigation.
