Pete Buttigieg joins University of Notre Dame as a faculty fellow

NOTRE DAME, Ind.—The University of Notre Dame announced that former South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg has joined the Notre Dame Institute for Advanced Study (NDIAS).

The former 2020 Democratic presidential candidate will work on two research projects at the NDIAS as a 2020-2021 faculty fellow.

According to Notre Dame, the first project will explore how to restore trust in political institutions and the second will consider the forces that are shaping the 2020s.

Buttigieg joins a group of over 30 faculty and student fellows who will conduct research in the university’s research theme, the nature of trust.

The university said Buttigieg will participate in weekly work-in-progress seminars and other academic programming.

Buttigieg will also teach an interdisciplinary undergraduate course on the importance of trust as understood through different fields.
