Pets pass through Michiana to new foster homes

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Some more cuddly pets passed through Michiana on their way to new foster homes.

Nine-month-old Fergee was moved into a new home over the weekend thanks to the “Pilots and Paws” program.

The program pairs up rescued animals with volunteers who are willing to help move them to a new home.

The volunteer that helped move Fergee said she seems to be adjusting just fine.

"The dog was phenomenal, curled up in the back seat and enjoyed the ride,” said Capt. Darin Hostetler. “She got up to look around and look outside, and get a different perspective on the world."

Organizers say it's a rare weekend when there isn't a transport moving through Michiana.
