What: Pfeil Innovation Center to host the Notre Dame Innovative Thinkers Camp
Date: Monday, June 18 and Tuesday, June 19
Time: 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Place: Pfeil Innovation Center • 420 Niles Ave., South Bend
The camp brings together 20 youth from four nonprofit organizations within the city of South Bend. They will learn about innovation and entrepreneurship for two weeks each summer for three years. They are expected to design an app and a STEM project by the end of the three years.
About the Notre Dame Innovative Thinkers Camp Program:
The Innovative-Thinker’s Camp (InC) is a two week summer experience created to encourage youth in grades 7 – 9 to obtain skills that will create a mindset for individual achievement in their academic and future career interests. The camp also attempts to cultivate a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship in the Michiana region by nurturing the pipeline that feeds local economic development. This experience is designed for youth to participate over three consecutive summers.
About the Pfeil Innovation Center:
The Pfeil Innovation Center is a new center for helping for-profit and non-profit organizations develop Innovation as a core competency.Along with the basic principles and best practices of Innovation, participants learn how to implement Innovation. The center is named "Pfeil Innovation Center," in honor of Richard J. Pfeil, who provided the founding financial gift. It opened May 17, 2011 with its first two-day educational experience. To date, more than 200 people from more than 30 different organizations have attended the two-day Innovation Leadership Immersions.
