PGA Contractor offers forklift training

BENTON HARBOR, Mich. -- This week, a contractor for the Senior PGA Championship is offering free forklift training.

More than 30 people in Benton Harbor signed up for certification through United Rentals.

The 8-hour course includes classroom and field training.

Positions for the PGA Tournament have already been filled, but United Rentals said this certification will make it easier for people to get a warehouse or construction job.

"It's giving them good basic safety skills and a card that when they get to a perspective employer they can say 'I'm qualified," said Dave Kury.

Forklift training usually costs between $300 to $400.

The Senior PGA starts May 22 at Harbor Shores Golf Course.
