Phone scam hits Michiana

ISP officials are warning citizens about a financial scam that is being reported around the area.

Authorities say that people are being called by supposed IRS agents and being asked for money.

Police want to remind you that no IRS officials will ever call you to discuss financial disclosures, let alone to ask for financial info over the phone.

If you think you have been scammed, you are asked to report your case to the authorities immediately.

Most of these phone scams originate overseas, so they are difficult to stop, but authorities believe getting the word out will help prevent more of these incidents.
