ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- The Elkhart County Sheriff's Office said that a plane crashed on Thursday evening.
Officials were dispatched to the area near the intersection of CR 33 and CR 42 around 8:08 p.m.
One person died in the crash, according to police.
Witnesses said they saw the plane nosedive into the field, striking power lines in the process.
The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the crash.
