Planned Parenthood files lawsuit against state

LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Planned Parenthood is suing the state of Indiana.

The health care provider and advocate filed a federal lawsuit to block a new law that tightens the morning after pill regulations.

Thanks to a new law, the Lafayette Planned Parenthood clinic must either stop handing out the morning after pill or make internal changes like adding surgical capabilities.

Planned Parenthood says the demand is unconstitutional.

"It's troubling that the lead legislator on this said right up front that he was proposing this legislation because of his own personal and religious beliefs," said Betty Cockrum.

Officials with Planned Parenthood say they plan to continue services at the clinic regardless of what happens with the lawsuit.
