Plans in motion to refurbish Buchanan's McCoy Creek

BUCHANAN, Mich. -- More trout? More tourists!

It's a simple concept that's finally underway in Buchanan. The plan is to refurbish McCoy Creek and help the trout stream move even faster and folks are hoping that attracts more fishermen.

Tuesday, city leaders officially started removing a piece of the dam that's standing in the way.

“I'd like to enjoy watching that first plank be removed and know that we finally after all these years are really going to go to work on the creek,” said Buchanan City Commissioner Dave Hagey.

Work on McCoy Creek should be finished by next fall.
