Playgroup first opened as a 2013 Downtown South Bend holiday pop-up shop in the former College Football Hall of Fame. We are opening our doors again as a temporary shop in a new location – The South Bend Chocolate Café building at 122 N. Michigan St. We will occupy the storefront directly behind The South Bend Chocolate Café in the former Made in Michiana space. Our short-term run will begin on First Friday, April 4th and run through Sunday, April 13th. Our hours for First Friday are 3–9pm. April 5th-13th we will be open daily from 10am-6pm.
Playgroup is a children’s play experience focusing on hands-on creative play with many child-led activity zones to explore. Most of our toys and activities are geared toward preschool and elementary age children but there is a baby area for the little ones and foosball and board games for older children supplied by The Ludus Machine.
There is an emphasis on community at Playgroup and we believe it is very important to offer an experience the whole family can enjoy. Parents can sit back and relax knowing that their children are playing in a safe environment, designed for children.
Since we are partnering with The South Bend Chocolate Café, patrons will be able to purchase any of the food and beverage items available at South Bend Chocolate and bring them in to Playgroup.
The admission price is $6 for the first child in a family, siblings are half-price or $3 per sibling. Parents, babies under 1 and children over ten years old are free. We are also offering a family pass for $25. The family pass gives the holder free unlimited access to Playgroup during any of our business hours through April 13th for a family of any size. We are only selling the passes pre-paid through our website Playgroupsouthbend.com, Monday, March 31 through Saturday, April 5. We will also sell the family pass on Friday, April 4th- Saturday April 5th at Playgroup.
