UPDATE: Plymouth police and SJCPD locate stolen gun in Yellow River

UPDATE: The Plymouth Police Department reports an officer took a report of a stolen gun on Oct. 14.

During the investigation, authorities say the male suspects admitted to stealing the firearm and showed a detective where they threw the gun.

It was tossed into the Yellow River near the walking bridge on the east side of River Park Square.

No other items of note were located, however authorities did remove other items from the river. 

The handgun found is not suspected to have bene used in any other crimes and was taken to the PPD for processing.    

ORIGINAL STORY: PLYMOUTH, Ind. -- The Plymouth Police Department reports they were assisted by the St. Joseph County Police Department Underwater Recovery Team Friday morning at Yellow River as part of an ongoing criminal investigation.

SJCPD officials say the team was asked to help locate a handgun believed to have been tossed there by a suspect.

During the morning search, authorities say they successfully located the firearm.
