Police find illegal drugs, cash, guns after shooting

MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. -- Michigan City Police are investigating a shooting that injured a 28-year-old man Monday evening. During the investigation, police located illegal drugs, cash and guns, police said.

Police were dispatched to a residence on Julianna Drive around 11 p.m. Monday and located a 28-year-old man who had been shot several times. Police said it appeared his injuries were non-life threatening.

He was taken to the hospital for treatment.

The police department's investigative division and the La Porte County Drug Task Force were called in to collect evidence because they located a large amount of illegal drugs, cash and guns, police said.

Police said they will be deploying additional teams over the new few weeks to target illegal gun possession because of the recent shootings.

They noted the shootings were all isolated incidents and are not related.
