Police identify man killed in apartment complex shooting

St. Joseph County Metro Homicide officers have identified the man  shot and killed near a South bend apartment complex Monday evening.

They say 34-year-old Brandon Williams was dead when they arrived to the 1500 block of Anderson Avenue near Anderson Apartments.His family has been notified of his death.

The call went out around 6:48 p.m.

Upon Arrival, South Bend Police officers blocked access to Anderson Avenue and began looking for shell casings and possible suspects in the area. 

Michael Hughes and his wife came home to find out they couldn't get inside the apartment complex.  

Before tonight, Hughes says he and his wife have always felt safe living here. 

"At first I came in 6-7 months ago safely. I never heard anything. Nothing happened to me so it makes you more aware. Definitely looking to move soon," said Hughes.

This is the city's second shooting in the last few days.

The Metro Homicide Unit is on the scene and South Bend Police are still searching for suspects.
