Police identify teen killed in shooting on Brookfield Street
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The 16-year-old who was shot and killed on N. Brookfield Street Sunday night has been identified.
The victim was identified as 16-year-old Ajurin Blake. He was a sophomore at Washington High School.
The 18-year-old who was injured has been identified as Nehemiah Watts.
South Bend Schools released the following statement:
South Bend Community School Corporation experienced the death of one of our students last evening, Washington High School sophomore Ajurin Blake. Special counseling services have been made available to the students and staff today at Washington High School and will continue to be available as needed. We extend our condolences to the family and friends of Ajurin Blake as well as the entire Washington High School community during this time of loss and grief. Ajurin will be greatly missed by the entire South Bend community.
There is no suspect information and no arrests have been made.
