Police charge driver in fatal hit and run in Berrien Township

BERRIEN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Berrien County prosecutors charged a 23-year-old Kyriea Demorrow with operating while intoxicated causing death and failure to stop at a personal injury accident causing death after a deadly bicycle and vehicle crash on Saturday.

The 23-year-old was booked in Berrien County Jail for allegedly hitting a 32-year-old man who was riding his bicycle.

The accident took place on Pokagon Road near Jones Road in Berrien Township on September 15th.

According to Berrien County Sheriff’s Department, witnesses were able to tell officials the vehicle’s description and plate registration number.

Officials said that the suspect’s blood alcohol content was more than three times the legal limit.

Sheriff’s Deputies were helped by the Berrien Springs/Oronoko Twp. Police Department, the Michigan State Police, SMCAS Ambulance, and the Eau Claire Fire Department.
