MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. – The Michigan City Police Department is reminding everyone to follow the law after they say a juvenile driving a golf cart collided with a vehicle near Maple and Superior Streets.

Police say the juvenile sustained non life-threatening injuries and is okay.

Operating a golf cart on city streets is illegal in the state of Indiana, according to police.

To drive a golf cart or off-road vehicle on a public street, you must have authorization from the city (i.e., an ordinance).

You can be cited with a Class-C infraction for driving an off-road vehicle on public streets, which will result in the vehicle being impounded.
