South Bend Police are investigating multiple potential arsons from the past several days. A spokesperson for the SBPD tells ABC57 News that the fires do not appear to be connected.
The latest fire happened just before midnight on Monday on South Kosciuszko Street. There, a car was destroyed and a garage was damaged. South Bend Police list the incident as an Arson call. The exact cause is under investigation.
Just after noon on Monday, a mother and her 9-month-old son escaped a fire that started in the back room of their home on South Chapin Street. Nobody was hurt. Again, South Bend Police list the incident as an Arson call. The exact cause is under investigation.
Over the weekend, someone threw two Molotov cocktails at a home on Calhoun Street, breaking a front window and causing fire damage to the front of the home.
And, South Bend Police determined a man set his own car on fire at Rum Village over the weekend. Police aren't sure why the man started the fire. He has not been arrested.
