Police investigating activity involving prescription medication at 911 dispatch center

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind.—The St. Joseph County Police Department is conducting an investigation into activity involving prescription medication inside of the 911 dispatch center.

According to police, on February 25, the Detective Bureau received information from the PSAP 911 Dispatch Center Executive Director Ray Schultz regarding a dispatch employee allegedly providing prescription medications to other dispatch employees.

A detective began conducting interviews with employees on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, police announced they had not found evidence of the involvement of a licensed physician or medical provider.

Employee interviews continued on Thursday and Friday.

The investigation in ongoing and police anticipate completing their investigation on March 2 or 3.

Police did not say what type of medication was allegedly being dispersed and did not say how many employees are thought to be involved.
