Police investigating after 19 year old shot in the face

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- South Bend Police were called to Memorial Hospital after a 19-year-old man arrived for treatment of a gunshot wound to the face.

Police were called to the hospital around 12:40 p.m. and spoke with the male victim.

The victim was in the area of Elmer and Keller a half hour earlier and an unknown suspect approached him, reports said.

There was a struggle and the victim was shot. The suspect fled the scene.

A family member transported the victim to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the face.

The suspect is described as a black male, wearing a black hoodie and black pants.
