Police investigating armed robbery at South Bend Steak 'n Shake

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Police say an armed robber is on the loose after he held up the Steak ‘n Shake on Ireland Road in South Bend.

It happened at 2:50 Tuesday morning. Two employees were working when the gunman stormed into the restaurant showing a sliver automatic pistol and demanded cash.

According to police, the gunman was wearing a gray hoodie, mask and gloves stating he was not going to hurt them. Employees did hand over cash and the gunman took off on foot.

Police do believe that the gunman could be linked to three other robberies in the last couple of weeks, including the Family Dollar and BP gas station on Western Avenue.

Police are looking for help from the public on this investigation.  They describe the gunman as a younger man and usually wearing winter clothes.
