Police investigating armed robbery report at Elkhart business
ELKHART, Ind. – The Elkhart Police Department is investigating an armed robbery report at a store on Friday.
At 8:58 p.m., an officer was called to a store in the 200 block of Main Street for a report of an armed robbery in progress.
On the way to the scene, dispatch was informed the alleged suspects had a firearm.
The suspects were not at the scene when police arrived.
A witness said he was standing in the checkout lane when he was approached by two males: a white male and a black male, reports said.
The witness said he felt one of the males press what felt like a handgun against his back.
The two men then ran out of the store, according to the witness.
The witness chased after them until they ran north on Morton Avenue.
Other witnesses at the scene said the males took money from a customer. No other items were reported taken.
No arrests have been made at this time.
This is an ongoing investigation.
