Police investigating burglaries of storage units in Elkhart

ELKHART, Ind. - The Elkhart Police Department is investigating after items were allegedly stolen from two separate storage units located within the same facility on Tuesday.

At 3:50 p.m., police were called to the 1600 block of W. Franklin St. for a burglary report.

According to the caller, someone broke into a storage unit and stole several items, including a Fire tablet, a Dyson vacuum, a television and a random assortment of clothes.

The burglary is thought to have happened sometime between March 21 and 28.

At 4:33 p.m., police were again called to the 1600 block of W. Franklin St. for another burglary report.

There, officers learned someone broke into another unit and stole gaming systems and controllers, video games, speakers, miscellaneous clothes and shoes, tools and personal documents, a knife set and a collectible.

The second burglary was also thought to have taken place between March 21 and 28.

Both cases are under investigation.
