Police investigating double shooting near Walker Street
MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. -- Two people were shot while riding in a vehicle in the 900 block of Walker Street late Friday evening, according to Michigan City Police.
The dispatch center received a call Friday at 11:37 p.m. about two gunshot victims who had arrived at the hospital.
The first victim, a 21-year-old man from Michigan City, suffered a gunshot wound to the left arm and had small cuts on his left side, police said.
The second shooting victim, a 30-year-old woman from Merrillville, suffered gunshot wounds to her right arm and back police said.
A witness and the victims told police the shooting happened while the three were all riding in a vehicle in the 900 block of Walker Street.
Officers responded to the area and searched for evidence. They located numerous spent bullet cases.
The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
Police are investigating if there's any connection between this shooting and a shots fired call that was reported less than an hour earlier.
