Police investigating fatal stabbing at Beacon Heights
UPDATE: The St. Joseph County Prosecutor's Office has charged a 39-year-old male with the stabbing of a male victim at Beacon Heights Apartments over the weekend.
Joseph Willams was charged with a count 1 felony, murder, after allegedly stabbing 39-year-old Martinez Lambert.
According to the Detective Bureau in the Violent Crimes Unit, Lambert was on the phone with a witness who heard an argument, the phone dropping and scuffling.
The witness drover over to Beacon Heights, where he knew Lambert to be, and found his body on the ground.
Williams' sentencing range is 45 to 65 years.
He's currently being held at St. Joseph County Jail, without bond, with an expected arraignment on November 8.
SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The South Bend Police Department is investigating a fatal stabbing at Beacon Heights Apartments.
A call came in on Saturday, November 4, around 2:40 p.m., reporting a stabbing on the 3400 block of Ardmore Trail.
Officers found a man suffering from apparent stab wounds and transported him to a hospital where he later died from his injuries.
The victim's name is being withheld while his family is being notified.
The South Bend Police Department's Violent Crimes Unit is handling the investigation.
