FLOWERFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A homicide investigation is underway in St. Joseph County Michigan.
Police say a 42-year-old man was found dead with a gunshot wound to the chest on South Street near Flowerfield Road.
Authorities say the incident happened at 3 a.m. Thursday.
Our Grand Rapids affiliate is reporting that the victim found shot in the chest was a semi-truck driver and did not live where the crime happened.
There have been no arrests made, but investigators are speaking to persons of interest.
St Joseph County Undersherrif Mark Lillywhite tells ABC57 that it’s not normal for something like this to happen in the area.
“We’re going to do our best to make sure that this gets solved in a swift manner,” he said.
Due to the nature of the crime, investigators have been processing the scene thoroughly for physical evidence.
“A lot of red flags for the techs and for the investigators, so we’re just crossing our T’s and dotting our I’s to make sure that this is thorough and complete investigation,” said Lillywhite.
