Police investigating stabbing in Granger that sent 3 to the hospital
Three people were rushed to the hospital after a stabbing in a quiet Granger neighborhood.
Police responded to the scene just after 9 a.m. Monday. The victims were a 13 year-old boy, a 41-year-old man and a 66 year-old woman.
Bill Thompson from the St. Joseph County police said all the victims involved were related. The 41 year-old may have been the aggressor and his wounds are self-inflicted.
The 13 year-old boy suffered from stab wounds is still undergoing treatment and is expected to recover.
The 41 year-old relative also had stab wounds and has undergone surgery. He remains in serious condition.
The third victim had cuts on her hands, and was treated and released.
“We do not have anything right now in terms that would suggest that a suspect is on the loose or anything like that,” Thompson said.
Neighbors said they were shocked by the police activity in their neighborhood and described the family as one who kept to themselves and never caused any problems.
What caused the fight is still under investigation.
“We have some detectives taking statements from some folks who were in the house at the time to kind of give us a little bit better information of how this thing unfolded,” Thompson said.
The investigation is not yet complete and it is unclear whether criminal charges will be filed since at least one of these injuries appears to be self-inflicted.
