Police investigating two separate shootings in South Bend

SOUTH BEND, Ind.- South Bend Police Department responded to two separate shootings early Sunday morning.

Around 1:20 a.m. Sunday morning, shots were reported near Roosevelt and Cushing.

Officers were called to Memorial Hospital for a shooting victim with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Shooting Response Team responded to the 800 block of Roosevelt.

The SWAT and Negotiating Team were activated after it was believed a possible suspect was inside a home in the 800 block of Roosevelt.

Two people were detained; however, no arrests have been made at this point.

Officers were called to Sheridan and Western for reports of shots fired around 2:45 a.m. early Sunday morning.

After officers arrived, they learned occupants of one car fired shots at another car that was occupied. One of the vehicles ran their car into a nearby store.

One person was shot. They were taken to Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Both the SBPD and Shooting Response Team, are investigating both shootings which are ongoing.
