Police involved in vehicle pursuit on Saturday
ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. –The St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department was involved with a vehicle pursuit on Saturday.
Around 5:30 a.m., Deputies responded to a call about an injury accident on Maystead Rd near Carpenterson Rd .
The accident involved a Honda passenger vehicle that had hit a skid steer.
When police arrived on the scene, those involved in the crash appeared to be leaving the site in a Chevy Impala.
The Chevy was then pursued by police where it pulled into a residential driveway
The driver and a passenger fled on foot from the vehicle.
The Honda driver, from the original crash involving the skid steer, surrendered after being found in the Chevy.
That man was a 35 year-old from Sturgis, Mich. and he was treated for serious injuries from the crash.
A female passenger that was in the Honda during the original crash sought treatment for minor injuries at Sturgis Hospital.
The driver of the Chevy was identified and charged.
The male passenger, who fled from the Chevy, was found hours later on Witt Lake Rd by Deputies and arrested for outstanding warrants and resisting/obstructing police.
The driver of the skid steer in the original crash was not injured.
Deputies were assisted by Lifecare Ambulance, the Burr Oak Fire Department, and K9 officers from Three Rivers/Sturgis Police.
