Police: One man killed after car crashes into electrical box
ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind.—One man was killed after a car crashed into an electrical box early Monday morning.
According to police, a car hit an electrical box around 1:15 a.m. near Main Street and University Drive.
Mishawaka Police said one man, the driver, from Buchanan, sustained fatal injuries and he was the only person inside of the car at the time of the crash.
According to police, the vehicle left the road south of State Road 23 and Main, went southbound into a vacant lot on the northeast corner of Main and University Drive, crossed University Drive and struck a utility box in the process, causing a widespread power outage.
Police believe that speed was a factor in the crash. Toxicology results are pending.
Police are awaiting family notification before releasing the victim's identity.
