Police pursuit through three counties ends in crash near US 6 and Lilac Road

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind.—A police pursuit that spanned multiple counties ended in a crash on Wednesday morning.

According to officials, an officer attempted to make a traffic stop around 1:30 a.m. in Elkhart County on a vehicle near County Road 7 and County Road 50 but the driver did not stop.

The pursuit led officers from Elkhart to St. Joseph and Marshall counties, at times reaching speeds of over 100 miles per hour, police said.

Just after 2 a.m., the suspect crashed the vehicle near U.S. 6 and Lilac Road in Marshall County and tried to leave the vehicle on foot.

Police arrested the suspect a short time after the crash.

The incident remains under investigation.
