Body pulled from St. Joseph River believed to be missing mom

BERRIEN SPRINGS, Mich. - Police recovered the body of an adult that matches the description of a mom who went missing in the St. Joseph River on May 7. The body was taken to Kalamazoo on Monday for official identification. 

On May 7, a 42-year-old woman went missing around 6:30 p.m. near Dairy Road in Oronoko Township.

Investigators believe she had gone into the river when she noticed her 8-year-old son was struggling.

The boy was found on an island in the river.

He has since been released from the hospital in good condition.
