Police respond to rollover crash in South Bend; driver ejected from vehicle

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Two women were rushed to the hospital after their SUV rolled over and slammed into a utility pole in South Bend.

The accident happened just before 5 Friday morning near the intersection of State Road 23 and Ireland Road.

Police say the driver was ejected while the passenger managed to stay in the vehicle. They both were taken to the hospital with non-threatening injuries.

Officials say the SUV was traveling west on Ireland Road and blew through a stop sign causing the vehicle to roll over onto State Road 23. It then hit an embankment at a house, flipped back upright before hitting the pole.

Police are not sure if alcohol was a factor. Traffic was blocked off but is now reopen.
