Police respond to SUV rollover accident on South Bend's South Side

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Police were called to the scene of a rollover accident on South Bend’s South Side.

It happened around 7:30 a.m. on Monday at York Road and Thornhill Drive near the St. Joseph County Fairgrounds.

Officials say a woman driving an SUV crashed into a telephone pole causing the vehicle to flip and roll into a front yard of a home.

The woman was not trapped inside of the car but fire crews did have to wait to retrieve her due to the fallen power lines and to conceal the electricity.

No power outages were reported in the area.

Police say the woman may have passed out just before the accident happened. She was taken to the hospital with serious but non-threatening injuries.
