SOUTH BEND, Ind.—The South Bend Police Department is searching for the driver of a car that they say crashed into a building and two parked cars early Friday morning.
Officers say that an older pickup truck crashed into a parked car at the corner of Indiana and Rush. A refrigerator in the bed of the pickup truck then fell out of the truck and hit a second parked car.
The pickup truck then ran over a light pole in the intersection of Indiana and Miami before crashing into the side of Ace Safe & Lock Co. on the 1500 block of Miami St. around 12:55 a.m. on Friday, according to police.
Police are still searching for the driver who left the scene of the crash.
Because the driver left the scene, police say there is no way to know if alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash.
The building sustained significant damage to its side.
