Police searching for suspects behind late night armed robbery

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- St. Joseph County Police are searching for two suspects involved in a late night armed robbery. It happened just before midnight at the Jimmy John's sandwich shop on Ironwood near State Road 23.

Jimmy John's employees told authorities that their store was robbed Wednesday night by a male and a female, both armed with handguns.

The workers say that the thieves then took off on foot, leading police to believe that they may have had a getaway vehicle or hideout nearby.

Because of the shop's close proximity to a busy intersection, authorities are hopeful that there were witnesses to the robbery.
