Police: Suspicious package was GPS tracking device

MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- Mishawaka Police are investigating an incident that happened in a parking lot in the 500 block of Comfort Place Wednesday morning.
Police were called to investigate a suspicious package after someone placed an object underneath a parked vehicle.
Police met with the victim and witnesses on scene and evacuated the area around 8:30 a.m.
The Elkhart City Bomb Unit assisted at the scene and examined the object to determine if it posed a threat.
After the object was examined, it was determined to be a GPS tracking device, police said.
Police are investigating who put the device on the vehicle and why.
